Artemis Studios are located within walking distance of the village of Plakias on the southern coast, in the Province of Rethymno.

The Studios are a convenient distance from the beach which is about a ten minute walk down a track or easily accessible by car. They stand back far enough from the sea, however, to give a superb view of the bay and its surrounding mountains.

To the rear of the building is a magnificent panorama overlooking thousands of olive trees. The vast open valley leads up from the bay towards the encircling mountains, offering a unique combination of seaside, countryside and mountain scenery. |

The six Studios, set amongst gardens and olive trees, are family-owned. Manoli and his wife Maria handle bookings. Manoli’s parents, Artemis and Manoli, live next to the Studios and take care of the surrounding small working farm. They look after the goats, chickens and rabbits, grow vegetables and harvest olives and oranges.

Artemis attends to the day-to-day needs of guests in the Studios, and will be happy to provide you with fresh eggs, vegetables, olive oil and other produce. The Studios have been open for 12 years and many guests return, for the warm welcome and peaceful setting.

The Studios all have private balconies that look out onto the bay. This curves gently from Souda, in the distance, through the village of Plakias, towards the eastern, quieter end where the Studios are situated.

There is a beautiful sandy beach offering bathing for children and adults, stretching from here down to Plakias, about one kilometre away. At the end of the track from the Studios, there is a taverna by the beach and, if you want to relax, there are beach beds and umbrellas to hire. There are also shady spots under the tamarisk trees or sand dunes in which to settle for the day. At this end of the bay there are rocks to explore as well, and underwater life for those interested in using a mask and snorkel. For the more energetic, there are a variety of walks from the Studios: over the headlands to adjacent beaches, along local tracks or longer excursions up into the mountains.
Artemis Studios in their quiet setting are ideal for those in search of peaceful surroundings, removed from the centre of the more lively village of Plakias, yet within easy walking distance of the beach and tavernas. The nearest supermarket and bakery are on the outskirts of the village, where a wide range of other shops, amenities and activities can also be found.
